Graphic Design and Social Media Intern

Position: Office Assistant

Reports to: Director of Student Life 

The Student Assistant is responsible for designing and creating and maintaining social media, advertisements, and publications for the Student Engagement Center. This position consists of 10 hours a week, and is not for academic credit.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Includes but not limited to the following:

  1. Create advertisements in various formats for the Office of Student Life. These include, but are not limited to web,
    flyers, signs, banners, and social media.
  2. Create publications such brochures and pamphlets
  3. Maintain the Social Media presence of the Office of Student Life. 
  4. Work to enhance and deliver messages from the Office of Student Life and its staff to various constituencies in appealing and efficient manner. 
  5. Working with other SEC on some projects to create an advertisement to the liking of a wide range of people. 
  6. Assist with the planning and development of marketing campaigns and branding for the Student Engagement Center. 
  7. Maintain the SEC Kitchen by keeping the area clean and tidy, organizing cabinets, and discarding any out of date perishable items. 
  8. Complete other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Have knowledge of and proficiency using design software including Adobe Photoshop and InDesign. 
  2. Ability to go through specific program training if needed and the knowledge to take the training you received and apply it to your work. 
  3. Have at least some experience creating print and web graphics, flyers, and other promotional materials.
  4. Be comfortable working with deadlines
  5. Have the ability to handle multiple tasks at once
  6. Have knowledge of Microsoft Publisher and Microsoft Word 
  7. Have knowledge of and proficiency using social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, etc. As well as have the ability and knowledge to post announcements, pictures, and anything else needed as directed. 
  8. The ability to come to work open minded and with a good attitude. 
  9. Creative and goal oriented.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

The majority of the duties of this position are performed under normal office conditions, however, this job does require that the intern be able to work weekends, evenings and flex periods. The Intern must be able to work outside for extended periods of time and will be required to traverse uneven ground in unpaved, undeveloped areas.
