Drama Major

Arts Management with Drama Emphasis

Drama Minor

As a Drama major or minor at RMC, you enter a theatre community in which you can access and develop your artistic prowess. Courses in acting, directing, design, theatre history, and dramatic literature are required, as well as elective courses in music and art. A central part of the degree requirements is participation in productions.

We help students secure summer internships with professional theatre companies. Such internships have included relationships with theatres such as Virginia Repertory Theatre, TheatreIV, and Barksdale Theatre in Richmond in a variety of capacities from scene shop to stage management to engaging with the development office. Academic credit is available for internships.

Students are trained by nationally-recognized faculty who continue to engage with professional work off-campus. Our training not only prepares students for graduate work in theatre, but also provides invaluable skills in collaboration, analytical thinking, and problem-solving used to build skills for any field they may chose upon graduation.

There are many opportunities for every student, every interest. However, you do not need to be a major, nor do you need to take theatre courses to participate in theatre at Randolph-Macon. Auditions and crews are open to all students, regardless of major or year.

Our production season is typically 3-4 shows per academic year, with many opportunities for students to engage with design, directing, or acting.

There is a lively student-run organization on campus - Theatre Arts Group (TAG).  This is a social/service organization for students interested in theatre.
