Before I left for this trip, someone told me to experience it all. I feel like I really have done that. We have seen all ends of the spectrum. Our cultural experience has been unbelievable, and the connection we have all made with this country will last a lifetime.

Spent January Term in Romania
How would you like to spend one month each year, the month of January, doing something that could change your life? What about earning a biology credit for studying comparative animal behavior in Costa Rica or satisfying a Spanish language requirement in the land of the Incas? Perhaps you'd prefer to stay in the U.S. -- even on campus -- to explore bio medical ethics or economic justice through an internship. A world of possibilities is yours at Randolph-Macon, and our January Term is the perfect time to explore some of them.
The January Term (or "J-Term" as we call it) is designed to let you to immerse yourself in one academic subject each January. On- or off-campus, at home or abroad, you can explore an interest or career or find an innovative way to earn a credit through independent research, traditional or interdisciplinary study, travel or an internship. J-Term gives you the chance to touch other cultures and customs and to network with scholars and organizations that share your interest. You'll finish the term with experience on your resume, credit on your transcript and the memories of a grand adventure.
Find out what Randolph-Macon students are discovering during J-Term through our 2008 J-Term Diaries. (The 2007 J-Term Diaries are also available).
